For as long as I can remember, I have been fascinated by the inner world of the mind that we all inhabit and how our feelings can have such an impact , either positively or negatively on our lives.

What makes me sad, happy? How do I make Sense of what am I experiencing? Is it different from others? How does how I am feeling affect the rest of my body and my relationships with others? Can I change how I feel?

This quest for some understanding of my own internal world, led me to study Psychotherapy and Counselling a number of years ago. Since qualifying as a psychotherapist in 2003, I have been practising both privately and in the voluntary sector and have worked with many clients experiencing difficulties in their lives.

While my training is ‘psychodynamic’ - which means that I integrate a number of different psychotherapy models and approaches - I have also completed post-graduate study in Bodywork and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy.

When we are experiencing a difficult or painful situation, it can be sometimes hard to see a way forward. We can often feel that we end up in the same place emotionally, again and again. In Psychotherapy and Counselling the therapist provides a respectful and safe place for the person to explore issues such as depression, trauma, anxiety, addiction and relationships difficulties.

Taking this time to really look at what is happening, engage with feelings and emotions, however difficult that may be, can provide valuable insight and awareness into the patterns and triggers that prevent us from experiencing happiness and fulfilment in our lives.
Marinas’ practice is limited to evenings only.
