Can you remember when you last had a massage?

Can you remember when you last had a massage?

“Healing begins with an aromatic bath and daily massage” – Hippocrates

I view self-care as restorative. It is essential to make us strong, and to keep illness and stress at bay. Maintaining our health and well-being can be a little bit of a battle, but regular massage and reflexology treatments can provide our immune systems with extra protection.

Massage is a hands-on treatment which manipulates the soft tissues of the body, particularly the muscles, and it can be used for relaxation, stimulation or rehabilitation. Using touch to soothe and relax the body, massage encourages improved circulation and neural communication, and aids digestion and waste removal. It also invigorates and relaxes muscles, preventing spasms and stiffness and as “stress” is recognised as being a contributing factor to a lot of disease massage is both physically and psychologically beneficial.

Reflexology is a therapy that treats the feet in order to balance the whole body. The feet are like mini maps of the body’s anatomy, so by massaging and applying pressure to the corresponding area it encourages both relaxation and stimulation, and helps to rebuild energy and recover from illness and disease.

The benefits of reflexology and massage are numerous and wide-ranging, and it is impossible to convey all that they have to offer. They are highly effective for treating and enhancing the body, mind and spirit, and everyone can gain from their benefits.

Some treatments available at The Novara Centre include:

Full body massage – releases muscular tension from head to toe.
Pregnancy massage – helps to alleviate aches and pains and other common health problems associated with pregnancy.
Facial rejuvenation massage – a relaxing treatment reducing tension and increasing blood flow to the face, head and neck.

Reflexology – this can be used to treat many ailments and conditions including fertility and reproductive problems, joint mobility, insomnia, chronic fatigue (ME), stress and thyroid disorders.
