Deirdre Griffin

Deirdre developed her interest in Educational Psychology during her placement on her Masters in Applied Psychology course in 1995. Since that time she has worked with the ISPCC, Barnardos and The Dyslexia Association of Ireland. She has worked as a Private Practitioner since 1999. She is a Registered Educational Psychologist with the Psychological Society of Ireland and is an Associate Fellow in both the Psychological Society of Ireland and the British Psychological Society.

Deirdre enjoys working with both children and adults and the breadth of assessments has consistently grown. She assesses cognitive ability, literacy and numeracy skills. She also completes screenings tests for emotional and behavioural difficulties, adaptive skills and ADHD. She has completed additional training in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (Diploma), Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) and Mediation. Deirdre has trained and delivered the Friends for Life Resiliency programme with great success

Deirdre has particular strengths in the areas of establishing rapport and writing clear and concise reports that are easily accessible to both lay people and professionals alike. She has developed a broad base of referrals from schools and based on parent to parent recommendation. My clients have ranged in age from 2 years old to 68 years old, but I am hoping one day to assess older clients as I can see the relief and understanding assessments can bring, no matter what age a person is.
