I am a member of and adhere to the ethical guidelines of the Irish Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (IACP)
My early career was in the area of medical practice management where I have worked for the past 25 years. My curiosity of and interest in the links between physical and mental health and well-being, and my desire to understand human psychological pain, led me to explore further and in 2005 I began my career as a counsellor/psychotherapist.
Since then I have gained extensive experience around issues arising for clients such as anxiety, depression, panic attacks, low self-esteem, relationship issues, life crisis, crisis pregnancy, grief and loss, anger management and conflict resolution.
Working within a person-centered framework, integrating various theoretical approaches, I aim to explore my client’s way of being in the world, discovering with them what beliefs and/or patterns of behaviour inhibit or impede their progress in relationships, family and work situations.
I am also a qualified couples therapist drawing on the works of Gottman, Egan and O’Leary to assist in meeting the needs of clients exploring the challenges of their relationships.
