I am trained as a Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapist who draws from a range of theoretical models depending on the needs of the individual client. I have a particular interest in mindfulness as the basis of nurturing and maintaining psychological health.
I am an accredited member of the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MIACP). I have an MSc in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy, as well as postgraduate certificates in Child and Adolescent Counselling and Psychotherapy, and Couples Counselling. I work with individuals and couples who feel that life’s burdens are becoming too great to be discharged without assistance.
I trained as a psychotherapist after a long and fruitful career in financial services. My first master’s degree was in strategic human resource management and my dissertation addressed the importance of the psychological contract in the workplace. Intrigued by the relationships between thinking, feeling, motivation, performance, and mental health, I became involved with a charity that provides counselling for the Wicklow area of which I am now the Chief Executive Officer.
As well as my therapeutic work which continues to enthuse and inspire me, I have maintained my core competencies in the worlds of management, human resources, business and executive coaching and for many years have been a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (FCIPD). As someone who blends management know-how with an appreciation of psychological factors, I work with professionals and business leaders who seek executive coaching to add an extra dimension to their work lives.
