COGNITIVE BEHAVIOUR THERAPIST FOR CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS

MSc, in CBT; BA; PHN; MBPS; MNACBT/ICP

About me ….

I am a professional qualified cognitive behavioural therapist for children and adolescents. Since 2008 I have been working with young people who experience problems such as anxiety, depression, anger, bulling, low self-esteem, panic attacks, obsessive compulsive disorder, parental/child conflict etc. This type of therapy has been shown to be very successful in helping the majority of young people in overcoming these problems.

My previous work as a public health nurse over the past 19 years brought me in contact with many families who had faced similar problems. I completed a BA (Hons) in psychology and sociology in 2007 (DCU) and became an accredited Leader of the “Incredible Years” Basic Parenting Programme in 2009. In 2010 I completed an MSc in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) for children and adolescents in the Lucena Clinic, Rathgar and UCD. My research explored the relationship between our minds and body, which compliments my CBT practice. My aim is to empower young people to free themselves from unhelpful thoughts and beliefs and to move towards a richer and more meaningful life.

My Accreditation and Memberships …

  • National Association of Cognitive Behaviour Therapies and The Irish Council for Psychotherapy (NACBT/ICP)
  • An Bord Altranais
  • British Psychological Society
