I am a Gestalt Psychotherapist and have completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Gestalt Psychotherapy with the Irish Gestalt Centre.
A concept which is central to the Gestalt approach is wholeness and the word ‘Gestalt’ roughly translates from German to mean “an organised whole”. In other words we are more than just our “thinking head”. As a result my working approach is humanistic and integrative.
I believe that change occurs in relation to others and not in isolation to oneself and that a safe and supportive therapeutic space is necessary for such relational awareness to emerge. It is this growing awareness of how we are in the world, that empowers us to make life changes and enables us to let go of patterns of behaviour that no longer support us in our life.
It is through this relational process of awareness in the “here and now” that we become more integrated and responsible, resulting in much richer personal contact and relationship.
Ultimately, this therapeutic work can facilitate a shift from dependence to independence and wholeness.
My working experience includes psychological and emotional issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, bereavement, complex grief, low self-esteem, relational difficulties and general life transitions. I also have a background in relational behaviour and conflict resolution with expertise in the areas of Change Management, Resilience, Coaching and Training.
Postgraduate Diploma in Gestalt Psychotherapy.
